Activities for Kids during Social Distancing

Doodling lessons, tours of the pyramids and cool science experiments are a few of the activities available online, along with things kids can do off-line! If the kids are bored and you’re out of ideas – or at least, ideas that they want to do, here are some of the resources that have been popping up online to help kids have fun and learn (just don’t tell them they are learning and they’ll want to do it!)

  1. Kid Quarantine Resources on Facebook. This is just people sharing their ideas. It’s great! https://www.facebook.com/groups/509181109767433/
  2. Free Virtual Tours of Museums. Not only museums – also field trips, farms, pyramids. It’s cool! https://www.familydaystriedandtested.com/free-virtual-tours-of-world-museums-educational-sites-galleries-for-children/?fbclid=IwAR258WpqsfjDsXnCg3QeJvyeytHCz_sEuGWfAMJvtWcWinssWbmh-7ExTh4
  3. Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems. The author of Elephant & Piggie runs a doodling class everyday! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmzjCPQv3y8
  4. Learn at Home. This is the Ontario government’s official site with language and math resources (read videos) to help parents and students keep up with learning. https://www.ontario.ca/page/learn-at-home?_ga=2.262092109.199068760.1584894168-1650363814.1441904147
  5. Bill Nye the Science Guy. Tons of fun videos about Science from Bill Nye, who’s been doing it for years! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJVPOTv1O7k
