Candy, stickers and promises of free time are my favourite incentives.  You can get students to do almost anything with Jolly Ranchers and a promise of five minutes free time.

I use incentives to get students to sit down quietly, to do their work, to clean the room at the end of the day or anything else I would like them to do.  You don’t have to give incentives to the entire class – just one or two students and the whole class will do what you’re asking, if there’s a promise that just one more student will get something at the end.
