Kindergarten to grade two students will listen to puppets when they won’t listen to you. When I can see I’m losing the students or even if I’m only losing one student (who is wandering away from the circle time to the building blocks), I pull out a puppet (or use a stuffed animal in the room) and do the lesson with a puppet. If I don’t have a puppet, I take off my sock, put it on my hand and use it as a puppet. Gross – but it works and the students love it!
