I Climbed Mt. Fuji!
Starting Saturday around 2p.m. and returning Sun. around 6 p.m., I climbed Mt. Fuji from around 2300 m. to the top, 3776 m.
I climbed with 4 others. It’s actually more difficult than I thought, with some parts being just hiking but other parts being actual climbing – looking for footholds etc.
You’re supposed to hike in the afternoon and all night to get to the top for sunrise at 4:30. However, some of our group got altitude sickness, so we saw the sunrise at 3200 m. and then slept for 5 hrs. in a hostel.
We made it to the top around noon Sun. Mt. Fuji is an active volcano, so here I am beside the crater.
You descend a different way and it only took us 5 hrs. to descend.
It was a really intense experience. It was so beautiful, but very difficult. All in all, I’d have to say I’d advise most people to give it a pass. I am glad I did it though!
